The Active & Assisting Caregivers Alliance (AACA) is a national grassroots organization of people providing direct care for aging people living in their own homes. We advocate for people who are cared for in their homes and improve their caregiving situation through home-based support services, education, advocacy, and other direct care services.
Home Care is highly affordable. In New York, depending on the state and county of residence, we find that home-based care has an average cost of between $1,500-$5,000/month, and the cost is comparable to other professional care settings (from $5,000-$10,000/month). We also find that home-based care is the most cost-effective option in more than 80% of the cases we serve. The benefits of home care are:
flexible and personalized;
caregivers are able to work at the pace that best fits them;
no need for medical or psychiatric certification;
greater caregiver self-efficacy;
greater caregiver self-care;
greater caregiver satisfaction; and
a boost to the local economy.
